Classes taught in English by Kazunori Kuwana
火災物理・化学概論 (Fundamentals of Fire Physics and Chemistry):
This class covers key physical and chemical phenomena related to fire, including combustion reactions, heat transfer, ignition, fire spread, combustion rate, buoyant gas flow, combustion products, and aspects of compartment fires. The goal is to understand these elements and their roles in fire phenomena.
火災実験 (Experimental Study on Fire Dynamics):
Learn to use key fire experiment instruments and measurement techniques through hands-on practice. Gain a fundamental understanding of fire dynamics, including combustion, burning rate, compartment fires, and flame spread. Develop skills to analyze and communicate fire experiment results effectively.
化学火災特論 (Advanced topics in chemical fires):
This course explores the mechanisms and characteristics of chemical fires—those involving easily ignitable substances that spread rapidly and are difficult to extinguish. Through case studies and the study of combustion, explosion, ignition, and suppression phenomena, students will develop the scientific and technological understanding needed to design effective prevention and damage-mitigation strategies.
防災化学概論 (Introduction to Disaster Prevention):
This seminar is an interactive platform where faculty, researchers, and students present and discuss diverse topics in disaster prevention, with a focus on acquiring a wide range of knowledge from past accident cases to the latest research trends. Students are required to present on their current knowledge, review existing research, and explore field trends, thereby significantly improving their presentation and information comprehension skills through participation in discussions across multiple disaster prevention areas. The core objective is to cultivate the ability to analyze and solve real-world disaster management issues. Successful students will be able to effectively organize ideas and discuss self-acquired, expert-level knowledge in a way that is easily grasped by a non-expert audience.
